As an organization primarily serving immigrants, SACSS focuses on civic knowledge and engagement which are of critical importance to these communities. We are a member of the Asian Pacific Americans (APA) VOICE, a collaborative of Asian American Community Based Organizations. SACSS motivates the community to engage actively in civic activities through Census awareness, door knocking, phone banking, and collecting pledge cards. We register eligible voters, hold Candidate Forums and promote civic awareness to ensure that South Asian voices are part of the city’s community development and that elected officials address their issues.  Click here to get involved!

SACSS was created in 2000 with a mission to empower  and integrate underserved South Asians and other immigrants into the economic and civic life of New York. We assist individuals and families in the areas of healthcare access, senior services, other benefits and civic engagement. We provide basic and advanced English and computer classes. SACSS runs the first South Asian food pantry in New York.  All of our programs are free and are provided by culturally competent staff members who speak Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, and Spanish.
