As community health advocates, we help you know about benefits available to you.
We run free English and computer classes to teach you the skills you need to succeed.
June 10, 2020 As NYC begins phase 1 of re-opening, SACSS is pleased to join and begin the process of returning to a new normal! We are moving from food delivery to food distribution at our reopened food pantry on Wednesday, June 10, 9:30 AM. The food pantry is open ONLY for curbside pick-up. Masks, sanitizing, and 6 feet of social distancing is required by the city, and we will be strictly enforcing it for the safety of all. (If you do not have a mask, we will provide one.) We will have markers to identify standing areas, and barricades. Your safety -- and the safety of our staff -- is of utmost importance, so please help us stay safe together. Please call (718) 321-7929 with any questions. Thank you! - The SACSS Team March 23, 2020 During this unprecedented time, we hope each of you is safe. COVID-19 has dramatically impacted how SACSS delivers our services. However, we are continuing to provide our services, though not face to face because of social distancing requirements. Please check back for updates, which we will continue to post here, on our website. If you need assistance with health insurance or other benefits, or wish to know about our food distribution program, please call us at 718-321-7929 or email us at email@example.com.. Our multilingual individual and support group counseling services are being offered over the phone. Please call 718-321-7929 for more information about the same. Our in-person activities such as English and Computer classes and senior day programming are temporarily suspended. June 9, 2020 update: Please note that our community food distribution program is now available through our food pantry which has re-opened. See details above. For safety reasons, our Food Pantry is currently on hold, but we have retooled the pantry to establish a community food distribution program. Each Monday, SACSS staff members receive deliveries of food and pack grocery bags. These bags are delivered across Queens on Tuesdays. On Wednesdays, prepared meals are delivered by a caterer with whom we have contracted. For more information about food distribution, please call or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note: if you are seeking information about the virus, the New York State Department of Health has set up a hotline specifically for COVID-19. The number is 1-888-374-3065. Visit http://nyc.gov/coronavirus for the most updated information and additional resources. Thank you for your patience during this time as we change and adapt our services in response to changing guidelines, and needs. A recent article from Desi Talk highlights some the efforts we are undertaking. Please consider supporting our work and stay safe, and healthy.
