A snapshot of our work in 2025

In 2025, SACSS outreached more than 350,000 community members through its diverse programs, delivering measurable impact across nutrition, healthcare access, legal outreach, and senior services. The food pantry provided critical nutritional support to 997 new households and served a total of 8,988 families (35,952 individuals), distributing 171,656 pantry bags and 6 million pounds of food. SACSS also assisted 946 households with enrollments in Medicaid, the Essential Plan, and Child Health Plus, generating approximately $9 million in annual savings. Additionally, 271 uninsured clients were connected to NYC Care, resulting in an estimated $2.66 million in cost savings. Post-enrollment assistance helped resolve complex healthcare issues for 1,279 individuals, securing $550,000 in charity care, while legal outreach efforts reached 1,225 individuals. 

Food Pantry:

This year, we distributed 6,000,000lbs of grocery bags and disabled individuals and patients recovering from COVID-19. We served over 8,993  families, which adds up to over 35,972 individuals!

Healthcare access:

We enrolled 2,390 individuals in health insurance (Medicaid, Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, financial assistance, and charity care) and provided 3,404 individuals with post-enrolment assistance. We cumulatively conducted healthcare outreach for over 182,000 individuals.

Senior Services:

We served 28,671 seniors this year through a multitude of programs, including 5,601 wellness calls, 100 senior center days which engaged 35 seniors on an average, workshops, supportive and individual counseling, benefits assistance and 6 senior outdoor trips.

Civic Engagement:

We provided over 100 individuals with voter registration assistance and additionally engaged 95,000 Individuals in Voter education.

Mental Health:

We conducted and curated over 2,400 counseling sessions for 125 individuals, along with 320 counseling sessions for 80 seniors. Cumulatively, we managed to deliver 2,925 counseling sessions to 205 individuals!

Legal Clinic:

This year, we helped provide legal assistance – from naturalization applications to renewing passports and fee waivers – to 119 individuals through over 750 legal clinic sessions.

Public Benefits:

We connected over 11,705 unique clients to a variety of public benefits, including SNAP, access-a-ride, SSI, SSDI, Unemployment benefits, cash assistance, free medicaid cell phone, WIC,  financial assistance, and rental assistance programs. Outreach on Benefits 45,000.

Workforce Development:

In 2025, a total of 60 students graduated from our English (ESOL) Basic and Intermediate, Computer, and “Stitch with SACSS” tailoring programs. Over the past several years, 60 women have successfully completed the sewing program, with 38 securing gainful employment. This initiative has played a pivotal role in empowering homebound women by equipping them with practical skills and creating pathways to financial independence.
