One of our seniors lost her husband a year ago, after 66 years of marriage. She lives with her daughter, who works. The mother doesn’t want to be a burden on her daughter. But the daughter doesn’t want her to stay home alone. One day, the senior’s daughter was particularly concerned about her mom’s mood. She sent her to the center and the mom came home in a better mood. She has friends there and snaps out of her sad moods, and often has so much fun. Recently, we celebrated her birthday and she felt so special. Her daughter is grateful that her mother has this support and community, which in turn gives her daughter support as well and peace of mind about her mother’s wellbeing.
