2025 English Classes are in session!

At SACSS, we are deeply committed to creating opportunities for underserved New Yorkers to build brighter futures. One of the ways we do this is through our free English language classes, which have received an enthusiastic response this year.

Currently, we have 15 active participants—most of whom are women, with only two men—reflecting the strong interest in language learning amongst women. Our students come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including East Asian, South Asian, and Latino communities.

Right now, the class is focusing on foundational skills such as pronunciation, with the goal of gradually building up to basic conversational English. For many participants, this is their first structured opportunity to learn English, and they are eager to improve their communication skills for everyday life—whether it’s speaking to their child’s teacher, navigating public services, or seeking employment.

Our classes foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to learn, make mistakes, and grow together. The progress we’ve seen so far is inspiring, and we look forward to expanding the program in the coming months to meet growing demand.
