SACSS Seniors Visit Old Westbury Gardens for a Day of Joy and Reflection

On Thursday, June 26, SACSS Seniors took a special trip to Old Westbury Gardens, a former estate turned treasured Long Island historic site. The meticulously preserved 20th-century mansion and vast gardens offered our seniors a look into American history and a moment to enjoy the natural landscape outside New York City. For many of our seniors, this is the only opportunity to step outside and enjoy nature with someone to look after them.

After a relaxing and educational morning in the gardens and museum, the group headed to a South Indian restaurant to share a meal. There, they reminisced on cherished memories about similar meals they used to cook themselves, but are no longer able to due to their age. Despite this, the familiar flavors brought joy, laughter, and connection.
