Congresswoman Grace Meng Visits SACSS’ Food Pantry

Executive Director Sudha Acharya and Congresswoman Grace Meng at the food pantry.

As part of our ongoing commitment to food justice, SACSS was honored to welcome Congresswoman Grace Meng to our office on April 23rd. Her visit included meeting our staff and spending time with our community members who were waiting in line for our culturally-appropriate food pantry.

Congresswoman Meng experienced firsthand the vital role of community-rooted services in addressing food insecurity, and the joy and comfort that familiar ingredients brought our community members, as well as highlighting the necessity of dignity in food access.

“We saw during the pandemic that their services were literally lifesaving for so many New Yorkers,” she said. “We are so happy to wish SACSS a happy 25-year anniversary, and here’s to 25 more.”

We are deeply grateful for her steadfast commitment to equity, compassion, and community-first solutions. Her advocacy helps ensure that SACSS can continue serving with heart and purpose.

Thank you, Congresswoman Meng, for your leadership and support!
