Grateful for the supportive learning environment, Nita thrived in her studies and found the classes easy and smooth to grasp. She also takes beautician classes elsewhere and hopes to work in a salon.

“I needed these classes to survive here in New York City, and it has helped me a great deal,” said Nita, who resides in Flushing. “I’m happy to be learning at SACSS because my English and computer skills have improved. I feel better and smarter.”

Like her peer, Khemwantie B., of Jamaica Estates, realized the importance of computer skills in today’s world and aspired to learn to stay current with the latest technology.

“Everything nowadays is computerized. When you go to the doctor’s office or plan to travel, there are forms to fill out online,” Khemwantie said. “I’m happy, glad, and thankful to have learned basic computer skills at SACSS that will help me understand how to navigate the internet.”
