SACSS Youth Employment Program Empowers Young Individuals for Success

(SYEP Interns & SACSS Volunteers)

Whether through educational support, mentorship, or skills development, SACSS is helping to set our youth up for success. This month, we welcomed a group of young individuals who are gaining invaluable work experience while contributing to the community.

Our participants from the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) are acquiring much-needed experience and skills in the workplace that will help them thrive in their personal and professional lives. They have assisted with administrative tasks and programs, packaging items in the SACSS Food Pantry, and much more.

Meanwhile, participants in SACSS’s Summer Youth Leadership Program are learning various essential skills in communication, creative writing, public speaking, community engagement, and college readiness.

For SACSS volunteer Anjali Narahari, 16, the connection to her South Asian heritage and seeing people from different backgrounds come together for a common purpose inspired her to give back to the community.

“Everyone is committed to what they’re doing by putting in the maximum possible effort making sure they’re meeting the community’s needs,” Anjali said.

Through her school’s volunteer program, Anjali says she was able to help people while making a profound impact in her community.

We believe providing youth with these experiences is crucial for personal and professional development. The skills and values they learn at SACSS will stay with them as they progress in their lives and careers.
