The Warmth of Heating Stations at SACSS Food Pantry

This winter has been exceptionally harsh on New Yorkers, particularly those in underserved communities who rely on food pantries and other social service organizations for warmth and food.

The SACSS food pantry adapts to the weather by offering heating stations while clients wait in line for food. This warmth has been made possible through the generous support of the Benedict Silverman Foundation.

Along with a streamlined distribution process by the SACSS food pantry staff and volunteers, these efforts help staff and volunteers serve clients more efficiently, reducing wait times and limiting exposure to the cold. SACSS staff is also working hard to ensure grocery deliveries for clients who can’t go out in the cold or snow – especially for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
