SACSS Director Mary Archana Fernandez Receives Citation of Honor from Queens Borough President

SACSS is proud to celebrate the recognition of Mary Archana Fernandez, Director of Family Support Services, who was awarded a Citation of Honor by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards at the annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration.

With more than a decade of experience in social work, Mary has been a driving force behind many of SACSS’s most impactful programs. As Director of Family Support Services, she oversees a broad range of initiatives, including client case management, senior support services, workforce development programs, and individual and group counseling. Through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to service, Mary has made a profound difference in the lives of countless individuals and families across Queens.

Mary was recognized alongside several distinguished community leaders, including Dr. Hoa Tu, Superintendent of Queens North High School; Dian Song Yu, Executive Director of Flushing BID; Hyun Tak Lee, President of the Korean American Association of Queens; and Rowena Sahulee, Founder of Meaningful Experiences. Together, these honorees represent the remarkable contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander leaders who continue to strengthen and enrich the borough of Queens.

The celebration also brought special recognition to SACSS itself. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards presented a Citation of Honor to SACSS in acknowledgment of the organization’s vital role in supporting the Queens community. The award was accepted by SACSS Founder and Executive Director, Sudha Acharya, on behalf of the organization.

These recognitions reflect the dedication of the entire SACSS team, whose work continues to empower individuals, strengthen families, and build a more connected and inclusive community.
