Recognizing Impact and Accountability at SACSS
SACSS is proud to share that it has received a 4-star rating status from Charity Navigator and Platinum Transparency in Candid, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit evaluators. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to accountability, transparency, and delivering essential services to the communities we serve.

Charity Navigator’s Encompass Rating System evaluates organizations across key areas, including impact and measurement, accountability and finance, leadership and planning, and culture and compensation. Much like the diversity of the ranking system, our programs also focus on multiple areas to provide as much relief as possible to a client who walks into our multilingual SACSS office.

That commitment is reflected in the scale and reach of our work. In 2025, SACSS served over 350,000 underserved New Yorkers through healthcare access, food security, senior support, mental health services, workforce development, and youth programming.

SACSS senior center
Our emphasis on impact begins with understanding and responding to community needs. For example, SACSS launched New York City’s first culturally appropriate food pantry in 2016, providing staples such as rice, lentils, and spices, along with fresh produce.
This same focus carries through to how we use our resources. 87.5 percent of all donations go directly toward programs serving underserved communities, and donors have the option to support SACSS as a whole or contribute to specific programs based on their interests.

Healthcare access
At the center of this work is a simple principle: the client comes first. In 2025 alone, SACSS assisted 946 households with Medicaid, Essential Plan, and Child Health Plus enrollments, helping generate approximately $9 million in annual savings for families.
As we continue to grow and reach more community members, maintaining transparency and trust remains central to our mission. We are grateful to our supporters for making this work possible. Support SACSS today by donating or hosting an event in support of SACSS.
