Building Safer Communities Together: Join Our 2026 Self-Defense Training

SACSS is continuing its spring tradition of hosting self-defense classes in collaboration with the Hope Against Hate Campaign, led by the Asian American Federation and the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes.

The sessions are led by Andre Maldonado and consistently draw strong participation, providing community members with practical tools to stay safe and support others. Designed with beginners in mind, the training covers essential skills such as the 5 D’s of bystander intervention, verbal de-escalation techniques, non-violent communication strategies, and basic physical self-defense.

These sessions also give participants opportunities to ask questions and share their lived experiences and how to continue practicing self-defense and alertness in day-to-day life.
