SACSS Presents Research at Racial Health Disparities Panel

On April 13, SACSS Director of Health Services, Rehan Mehmood, presented on a panel for the Study of Racial Disparities (SORD). This panel was presented virtually by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Prevention (OMH-HDP), in celebration of #MinorityHealthMonth.

SORD funded four AAPI serving agencies – SACSS, Arab-American Family Support Center, Korean Community Services and Chinese-American Planning Council – to share research on the impact of the pandemic on community members’ health, as well as the the additional discrimination and violence they experience based on their race and ethnicity. Community leaders from each of the organizations shared their experiences, findings, lessons learned, and recommendations based on their study.
