SACSS staff reach out to new community members at the 35th Annual Phagwah Parade in NYC

SACSS staff, including Maria Ariza, Rema Venu and Deepak Raman joined community members and The Campaign for NY Health last Sunday at the 35th Annual Phagwah Parade in Queens, NY.

#Phagwah, or #Holi, is an Indo-Caribbean Hindu new year celebration that takes place every spring. It’s a typical community parade with floats and lots of activities intended to chase away the winter grays with a carnival-like spirit. Phagwah is also renowned for the bright red, purple, orange, and green dyes and powders that fill the air and coat the white clothes of its revelers!

SACSS staff enjoyed the parade and festivities, but also worked hard to reach out to new people and families, to raise awareness about the services we provide to community members who may need help accessing healthcare and other public benefits.
