‘Unlocking the Power of Positive Thinking’: SACSS Women’s Wellness Circle Discusses Prioritizing Mental Health

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and there’s no better time to prioritize your mental well-being. At SACSS’ Women’s Wellness Circle, we believe mental health is as important as physical health.

When you hear the words “mental health,” what comes to mind? For many of us, it’s negative thoughts and feelings of anxiety or stress. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Our Wednesdays for Women participants talked about their experiences with negative thoughts and feelings and practical strategies for overcoming those negative thinking patterns. They learned that challenging those thoughts and reframing them for a more positive attitude is one of the most effective ways to improve mental health.

This month aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and break down the stigma that still surrounds it. At SACSS, we provide a safe and nurturing space for community members to talk about their mental health, the importance of practicing self-care and supporting loved ones who may be struggling. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
